The Next Gesture

A Chris Soria/Misha Tyutyunik Collaboration

June 26 - August 30, 2026

Opening reception: Saturday, June 27, 3-5 PM

We are pleased to present The Next Gesture: A Chris Soria/Misha Tyutyunik Collaboration, featuring a series of paintings jointly created by Soria and Tyutyunik, New York artists and muralists who have been collaborating for over a decade.

Their collaboration merges two distinct voices into a unified expression, prioritizing their shared visual language over individual contributions. Their process embraces both structure and spontaneity, allowing moments of precision and improvisation to coexist, resulting in paintings that feel at once intentional and alive.

Working in a variety of mediums, including acrylic, aerosol, and paint markers, they juxtapose abstract swatches of color and geometric shapes with figurative objects and line work, drawing on influences from Henri Matisse’s cutouts, M.C. Escher’s tessellations, Diego Rivera’s socially charged murals, and the vibrant New York street art scene.

Across the public and private sectors, Soria and Tyutyunik transform spaces into layered visual narratives that encourage both immediate response and thoughtful reflection.

Chris Soria specializes in large-scale murals and dimensional art, working in painting, photo-collage, digital art, and ephemeral mediums. He has created and collaborated on works in public, private, and shared spaces for more than 20 years, with dozens of murals and street art throughout NYC and beyond.

Misha Tyutyunik is a Ukrainian-born painter, muralist, street artist, illustrator, and virtual reality artist, living and working out of Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of Pratt Institute, he works with communities around the world to create public art and is regularly commissioned to paint and illustrate for many reputable brands, publications and collectors.
